Solar Power: Providing financial, community and business wins for Bellingham Camping and Caravan Site

Regular readers will know the many benefits solar power offers to schools, businesses and the farming community. In this month’s case study though it’s the turn of the leisure industry and the Bellingham Camping and Caravan Site in Hexham, Northumberland.

"There was really no other option than solar PV. Not only does it help us meet all our financial targets, it also gives us peace of mind that we’re doing something great for the environment."
Joanna and David, Franchisees, Bellingham Camping and Caravan Club

Like most, David and Johanna, franchisees of their business, wanted to make the most of their opportunity and maximise their profits. As their business was also heavily reliant on guests enjoying their experience, the couple also wanted to ensure they were able to provide excellent amenities, comfort and warmth to all their guests – no matter what the season.

Within their Camping and Caravan Site, Johanna and David have a social hub – Wansbeck House. Typically used for guests to socialise in throughout their holiday, the couple were keen to improve the refurbished building, ensuring it was warm and comfortable for all.

Johanna and David found a cost efficient, green-friendly solution in solar power from Low Carbon Energy. It provided everything they needed for that inviting, warm atmosphere and saved them money – while maximising their profits at the same time.

Choosing solar panels was a win-win solution for the Bellingham Camping and Caravan Site.

Ged Ennis, Director, Low Carbon Energy adds:

“There was really no other option than solar PV. Not only does it help us meet all our financial targets, it also gives us peace of mind that we’re doing something great for the environment.

“Solar panels fit in with the whole ethos and community feel at Bellingham Camping and Caravan Club. We are looking forward to welcoming lots more guests into the refurbished building throughout this year and beyond.”

Ged Ennis, Director, Low Carbon Energy adds:

“David and Johanna, franchisees of the Bellingham Camping and Caravan Club Site in Northumberland, are delighted with the results. The team at Low Carbon Energy fitted a 40 panel solar PV array to the roof of the newly refurbished Wansbeck House, used as a social space for guests.

“The implementation of solar panels has helped to achieve that warm, inviting social space for guests to relax in, while benefiting the wider community at the same time.

“The installation of solar panels was integral to the development of the project as the panels provide electricity for the building.“
