Rascal Confectionery is a UK manufacturer of sweets and confectionery, recognised as one of Europe’s market leaders in the manufacture of coated dragées (essentially a sweet with a soft centre and a hard outer shell).
Rascal Confectionery operates its own large scale production machinery in-house, placing a heavy focus on efficiency, quality and tight turnaround times. This sort of large-scale manufacturing is typically seen as one of the most energy-intensive sectors in the UK, so the team at Rascals approached our experts at Low Carbon Energy to help them take even greater control over their energy bills, while minimising their CO₂ footprint.

We began the project with a site visit, and by making an in-depth assessment of the unique energy profile of Rascal Confectionery. With this information in hand, we then designed, developed and installed a 250kWp rooftop PV installation, complete with 100 x 250w Hanwha Qcells Modules and Solaredge inverters.
Rascal Confectionery can now utilise 231,250 kWh per annum of clean on-site generated electricity, while avoiding annual CO₂ emissions of 70,762.5kg. Its levelised cost of electricity is now just £0.02/kWh.
